PREPARATION AND CHARACTERIZATION OF POLYIMIDE LANGMUIR-BLODGETT FILMS

Langmuir-Blodgett films of polyamic acid tert-amine salt and corresponding polyimide were obtained. Poliamic acid was prodused on the base of dianhydride of 3,3’,4,4’-biphenyltetracarboxylic acid and o-tolidine. tert-Amine bearing multichains such as O,O’,O’’-trihexadecanoyltriethanolamine was used. An imidization was performed by thermal and chemical treatment of Langmuir-Blodgett films of polyamic acid tert-amine salt.

The characterization of Langmuir-Blodgett films before and after imidization was carried out by various methods such as ellipsometry, optical and atomic-force microscopy, transmission and reflection high-energy electron diffraction. In this study influence of transfer surface pressure and kind of imidization on the surface morphology of the films and their structure is discussed.

Transport of small molecules through composite membranes containing an ultra-thin polyimide film formed by the Langmuir-Blodgett technique was studied.
